I suggest translating "سيد" as "chief".
Not "boss", not "head", not "president", none of that.
Because "chief" doesn't necessarily convey ruling. It is also used to mean status and position, which fits perfectly.

الحسن والحسين سيدا شباب الجنة.
There is no leadership or ruling in al-Jannah. That ḥadīth means they are of the highest rank. "Chief" works here amazingly. الحمد لله.
