Hold On...Your Lord Is Generous

 مهلًا، فربك كريم

Hold on — your Lord is Generous.

قال الله تعالى: {قُلْ عَسَى أَنْ يَكُونَ قَرِيبًا} [الإسراء: 51].

Allaah, Exalted is He, said: { Say: Perhaps it will be soon } [Al-Israa': 51]

في هذه الآية تسلية للمؤمن المنتظر وفرج للأمل الكامن في صدره،

This verse is soothing for believers who wait, and a relief for the hope hidden within their chests.

فهي تذكره أن وعد الله لا يطول على من صدق،

It reminds them that the promise of Allaah is never far for those who truly believe.

وأن ما يتمناه من خير قد يكون أقرب مما يظن،

And that the good they long for may be nearer than they imagine.

ولكن الحكيم سبحانه يؤخر لحكمة

Yet the All-Wise, Holy is He, delays for a reason full of wisdom,

ويعطي في الوقت الأنسب لعبده،

and grants at the most suitable time for His slaves.

فلتبقى القلوب معلقة بربها

So let hearts remain attached to their Lord,

واثقة أن التأخير ليس نسيانًا بل إعدادًا،

trusting that delay is not neglect, but preparation.

وأن ما كتب الله كائن في أوانه،

And that what Allaah has decreed will occur in its appointed time.

فلا تيأس إذا أبطأت الأمنية،

So do not despair when your wish seems slow to come.

فربك يقول: قل عسى أن يكون قريبًا،

For your Lord has said: Say, perhaps it will be soon.

فكن على يقين أنه قريب حقًا وإن لم تره بعد.

So be certain that it truly is near, even if you have not seen it yet.

Your heart will find ease—so be patient. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Patience is light". (Narrated by Muslim) Whenever Allah tests you, He places a spark of light in your heart to guide you through. Patience is not a burden, nor a restriction; it is a guiding light that illuminates the path even in the darkest circumstances. Your Lord is more merciful to you than you are to yourself. He knows exactly where your pain lies and measures trials according to what will elevate you, not what will overwhelm you. When your chest feels heavy, know that relief is nearer than you imagine-through a word, a supplication, or a small event that can change the course of your life. Do not despair along the path of patience. At its end are doors of goodness that open only for those who endure and remain steadfast.
